TS Members: $35 • Nonmembers: $40

In Buddhist psychology, there are core values and capacities known as paramitas that help us navigate life with readiness and resilience. Paramitas are often translated as “perfections,” and refer to the noble character qualities associated with enlightened beings. In this workshop, psychoanalyst and teacher of Buddhist studies Dr. Pilar Jennings will highlight and explore one of these paramitas, the capacity for enthusiastic perseverance, also known as joyous effort. Dr. Jennings will examine the nature of this capacity and methods for restoring our natural connection to a wellspring of energy and determination, even in the face of life’s significant challenges.

Themes will include:

  • Psychological obstacles that may interfere with this energized state of mind
  • Additional paramitas and their relationship to perseverance
  • Psychotherapeutic insights for bolstering a readiness to face life with trust in our natural ability to find our way through with well-being, contentment, and joy

There will also be a brief guided meditation.

Registration includes on-demand access to a recording of the program, which can be viewed for two weeks following the program date.
